Calendar of Events 2010
Boat-In Worship -- Held every Sunday from Memorial Day
to Labor Day in front of the Oakwood Inn in Conklin Bay. Come by boat or car. Dress is casual. Pets are welcome too.
The service is held on a large boat (The Lillypad) with a public address system. The Lillypad accomodates about 50 people (FREE attendance), the preacher, and the music group.
- Arrive by YOUR Boat: Bring at least one anchor (two anchors are better on a windy day)
- Attend on the Lillypad: Drive to FROG Tavern. Arrive by 7:30am. The boat departs at 7:45am.
- Arrive by Car: Drive to the Oakwood Inn property; bring lawn chairs.
Wawasee Yacht Club Regatta -- held every weekend from
Memorial Day to Labor Day. Lasers and Sunfish race on Saturday
mornings (beginning at 10:00am) and E-Scows and Lightnings race
on Sunday mornings (beginning at 9:30am).
Ft Wayne Philharmonic-- June 27, 2010 @ 7:30pm. The concert is usually held lakeside (in a tent near the public boat ramp at the fish hatchery). In the event of rain, the event is held at the Wawasee High School auditorium. The program usually includes patriotic music.
Art Blast -- July 3, 2010. The art fesitval is an event for the whole family featuring a wide variety of art mediums. It will be held outside around Creative Fish Art gallery (across the stree at the old CVS parking lot). It is free for an artist to set up a booth. Hours are from 9am to 5pm.
Flotilla Road Race -- As of March 2010, the details on the 2010 Flotilla Road Race have not been announced.
The race is usually scheduled between July 3th and July 11 (perhaps July 3 this year ?). It usually begins at Lakeside Park at 8 a.m. The events include an 8-mile run and a 3.3 mile walk. Register at 7am at the Pavillion. The entry fee for the race is $15 and the walk is $12. Pre-register at Logan Rogers Realty for a discount on the entry fee. Lake Wawasee Fireworks -- Saturday evening, July 3, 2010 -- starts at dark, usually around 10pm
Syracuse Lake Fireworks-- Sunday evening, July 4, 2010 -- starts at dark, usually around 10pm
Lake Wawasee Flotilla Boat Parade -- Saturday July 10, 2010. The Flotilla's theme is "Blast from the Past" and will begin at 4 p.m. starting in Johnson's Bay. The rain date is July 11. See this website for more details: www.wawaseeflotilla.com
Plein Air Paint Out -- July 10 & 11. The paint out attracts landscape artists from Indiana and surrounding states. Some of the top artists in the Midwest will be at this event. Artists will be scattered around the lake painting on Saturday and Sunday in the morning. On Sunday July 11, from 1:00 p.m. to 3;00 p.m. there will be an art show and sale at the South Shore Gold Club Pavilion, 10601 North State Road 13.
Junior Sailing Program -- one and two week sessions
held in July. There is a nominal fee. Contact the Wawasee Yacht
Club at 574-457-2321 for more details.
Syracuse Summer Fest-- July 29-31, 2010. "Syracuse Days" and "Art in the Park" have been combined to create a new weekend fest. There will be events all weekend for all ages. This year will feature a family friendly movie night outside and music bands playing in different venues throughout Syracuse. Local restaurants will showcase something from their menu, and Sidewalk Chalk Drawing Competition begins on Thursday afternoon. A Photography contest for grades 12 and under, The Adventure Boat Race will take place on Syracuse Lake with prizes awarded on Saturday at the Art Festival. Retail Sidewalk Sales and Garage Sales start on Thursday and continue through Saturday. The art festival will be held July 31 in the Wawasee Village from 9 am to 8 pm. This is just a sampling of events planned for Syracuse and surrounding communities. More events are in the planning stage.
