This cottage provides guests with both lake frontage (50 feet frontage) and a back lot with channel frontage (36'). Located on a private drive with limited vehicle traffic, which is ideal for families with children, or for those who prefer a more peaceful stay at the lake.

The cottage is single story with no stairs to climb for access to the lake. It has four bedrooms and sleeps 8 people comfortably (in beds). The cottage furnishings are clean and in good working condition.

The property has a large swimming & wading area with a sandy lake bottom. The lakefront shore has a concrete seawall and pier at ground level. Wading depths range from 16" at the seawall to 36" at the end of the 100 ft pier.

Enjoy the cool lake breezes and warm summer sun while relaxing on the lakefront pier, which is over 100 feet long with a 20 ft x 12 ft sitting area at the end of the pier.

With its orignal kitchen cabinets, countertop, oven, screen doors, and screened porch, Pier 121 has the charm of a vintage lake cottage, but with many modern amenities. The cottage is fully furnished, however guests provide their own bed sheets and pillow cases.

We offer optional linen service for an addtional fee of $15/bed.

  • Patio facing lake with 4 lawn chairs, 2 lawn loungers, portable gas grill (gas included).
  • Swimming & wading from lake pier with sandy lake bottom
  • Lake pier: 100 feet long x 4 feet wide with 20 foot x 12 foot sitting area at the end of the pier. Water depth is approximately 30" deep at end of pier. Lakefront pier is removed on October 1.
  • Channel pier (16 feet long x 4 feet wide) is installed all year. Water depth is approximately 36", which is ideal for docking and storing most boats, especially on busy weekends.
  • Outside parking availability: maximum of 6 cars & 4 boat trailers
  • Includes utilities for gas, electric, sewer, trash pick-up (1/week), local phone service, satellite TV, gas for grill & lawn maintenance.
  • Smoke detectors near bedrooms & fire extinguisher in kitchen closet
  • Vacuum cleaner & some kitchen/bath cleaning supplies.
  • Ironing board and iron.
  • DSL wireless internet access (instructions on bulletin board)

    b. A longer stay allows guests to enjoy the lake at a more relaxed pace.

  • Availability dates subject to change without notice. Only a cash deposit guarantees your reservation.

  • Rates shown below assume 8 people (adults & children combined) staying overnight; if more than 8 people, add $75.00/person/week, but requires advance approval by owner

Full week rentals normally begin at 6 pm on Friday; check out time is 12 pm the following Friday.

Rental Rates are your total cost (cleaning and sales tax included); some discounts may apply for multiple weeks. Rents are subject to change without notice.

Bed linen and towel service is NOT included in the rates below. If bed linens are required, add $20/bed (6 twins + 1 double) or $100 for all beds. Add $50 for towel service.

If you cannot find the available dates you want at Pier 121, please let me know. I can put your name on my "standby" list for possible cancellations. Also, I know other owners who rent cottages at Lake Wawasee and perhaps we can help you find another rental cottage for this year.

RESTRICTIONS: Weekly rental rates are subject to restricitons as outlined in the LEASE AGREEMENT. Failure to comply with the restrictions may result in a deduction from your security deposit; amount deducted subject to owner's discretion.

FACILITIES -- GUESTS agree to use the premises in a careful and proper manner and not cause damage to the property. At the end of this lease period, GUESTS will vacate the premises on time and leave the propery in as good condition as the beginning of lease period, except for usual wear and tear.

a. OWNER shall pay for natural gas, electric, sewer, normal trash pick-up (once per week), local phone service, & lawn maintenance.
b. GUESTS agree to prudently use utilities.

RESTRICTIONS -- rental rate & security deposit are based on compliance with the following; failure to comply with these restrictions may result in deductions from the security deposit (deducted amount subject to OWNER's discretion):
a. No pets.
b. Maximum of 8 guests (adults and children combined) staying overnight.
c. Maximum of 16 guests on the property during the day (9am to 9pm)
a. No subletting.
d. No loud music anytime
e. No access to garage storage area
f. No campfires, fireworks, tents, campers, or recreational vehicles
g. Maintain Evening "Quiet Time" from 11:00 pm to 8:00 am
h. No firearms on the property

a. Cancellations 45 days before scheduled arrival: 100% refund
b. Cancellations within 45 days of scheduled arrival : No refunds unless a replacement rental of the same (or higher) dollar amount is found.

SECURITY DEPOSIT: settlement & return of deposit within 2 weeks after premises are vacated:
a. Damaged items charged at cost to repair; no deductions for normal wear and tear.
b. Items which can't be repaired or missing items will be charged at replacement cost.
c. The trash disposal company requires a fee on some items (car batteries, tires, lumber with exposed nails, bulky items, etc.). Any special fees incurred by GUESTS will be deducted.
d. Long distance telephone calls will be deducted from security deposit.
e. Failure to comply with RESTRICTIONS (noted on this page) may result in deductions as deemed appropriate by the OWNER.

-Disposable plates, cups, & utensils (if you don't plan to do dishes by hand -- no dish washer)
-Garbage bags
-Your favorite flag for the flagpole on the lake pier
-Water shoes are not required for wading, but provide an extra measure of protection from occasional zebra mussels, whose shells can cause minor "paper cuts" on tender feet.


Directions to Pier 121, Lake Wawasee:

1) Coming from Syracuse Indiana:

a. Take SR 13 to Syracuse, IN

b. Coming from the South, in Syracuse, turn right at the Dairy Queen (3rd traffic light) onto Pickwick Road (heading east). Coming from the North, in Syracuse, turn left at the Dairy Queen (2nd traffic light after crossing the railroad tracks) onto Pickwick Road (heading east).

c. Continue on main road (do not cross railroad tracks) past Wawasee Boat Company to next intersection (Warner) --about 2 miles from Dairy Queen.

d. Turn right on Warner Road; continue past Eli Lilly Estate to "Spinks Condos".

e. Turn right on Seth Ward Road. (Note that the landmark "Spinks Condo" is located at the intersection of Seth Ward and Warner Road)

f. Seth Ward will turn into (at the first 90 degree left turn) Ogdon Point Road; continue for about 1 mile to Sunrise Drive

g. Turn left on Sunrise Drive. Continue about .25 mile to Sunrise Beach entrance, which is marked by a circular turn-around and brick pillars

h. After passing the brick pillars, the Messmer cottage is Pier 120, which is the 6th cottage on the right. The rental cottage (Pier 121) is the 7th cottage on the right.

2) Coming from Highway 6

a. Turn south on County Road 43 and continue on County Road 43 for 2.3 miles (do not cross the railroad tracks)

b. Turn right (west) on County Road 1250; continue for 1.3 miles

c. Turn left (south) on Bishop Road. After driving 0.5 miles, you will be at the intersection (and stop sign) of Seth Ward Road and Eli Lilly Road. (Note: when you crossed the railroad tracks, Bishop Road changes to Seth Ward Road).

d. At the intersection (and stop sign) of Seth Ward Road and Eli Lilly Road, continue striaght.

e. Follow instructions from "f to k" above in section #1.
